Selflessly selfish.

I learned this lesson a long time ago.  Call it a part of Southern charm maybe.   I have forgotten it at times, but when I'm happy it magically reappears.  It is how I was raised.  Southern women can do this with ease and just because the words sound like a compliment, depending on the tone, they can be the furthest thing from it.

I mean it.  I try to find one thing I like about everyone.  I am happy lately.  I've been complimenting everyone I can and it's come back to me as love and happiness.

I don't do it for the extra love and happiness...at least I don't think that I do.  I do it because I like the way a person's face looks when you notice something that you can tell means something to them.   For the tiniest moment their eyes look like they're on fire until their gaze darts away to whatever it is you've complimented.  Like they've been waiting and yearning for this attention.

Watch out.  Doing this is addicting and it makes people like you which means they'll expect more and more-- but it's oh so fun.

It's been this week's challenge to my kids.  To be quiet and really pay attention to those people in their lives.  To take notice of the things that are important to them.  To say thank you for their effort by complimenting them.

We compare notes nightly at dinner.  It's so interesting to hear about the things they've noticed.  To think that maybe their little voice made a difference, made a ripple in the energy we live in.

At the very least it makes us feel better.  Selfishly that means alot to me.  Shifting our mood has been a goal of mine lately.  I booked a vacation, I've implemented board games after dinner, I've committed to getting everything with a wheel working (bikes, scooters, tricycles) so we can spend more time outside and now complimenting.

Life is good here south of nowhere, everything is rolling along at a happier keel than it has in the past.  I'm happy to let go of the past.

We've chosen a car as well.  Lincoln MKZ.  Or at least that is what I am en route to purchase tomorrow night.  Who knows what it is I'll actually end up with after the car salesman is through with me.

Fingers crossed.

xoxo,

Juls

I think the way you are thinking it is very hard for all the community members who write my essay for me australia to think you are little different from the other people. But the fact is that I am able to enjoy your articles on this different issue.
